Update: 11 Feb 2021 -
Here is a quick update about the IFYE 2020 (in August 2021).
The planning committee are still hoping to go ahead with the Conference this summer, here in England, but this is subject to the UK government COVID-19 restrictions. When a decision is made it will be made in consultation with the European IFYE Board.
A final decision will be announced before 30th April.
Until then, take care, stay safe and support each other.
Welcome to Lancashire, England
For the first time this century the IFYE European Conference is coming to England in 2020.
Based in the north-west of England at Myerscough College, Preston Lancashire the week’s activities will be very much focused on Food, Farming and Fun.
The week however is not just in Lancashire but in true IFYE style will be travelling to Cumbria, the Lake District, North Yorkshire and the Dales to explore the spectacular and unique landscapes. With a combination of opportunities including fell walking in the Lake District, travelling by coach, boat and train, visiting farms and food producers or exploring local crafts, we are sure that there will be something for everyone.
Come and join us.
The IFYE exchange programme began in 1948 as a post-war project between the USA and Europe to promote international understanding. Ever since home exchanges have been taking place all around the world usually implemented by rural youth organisations. In 1958 a group of returning IFYEs decided to organise a get together and so began the European IFYE Alumni conference. Each year a different country hosts this event which is a combination of conference, reunion and AGM and in 2020 the 62nd conference will be held in Lancashire, England.
We look forward to welcoming IFYEs old and new, from many different nations to help us celebrate this event.
